Cory Lee Douglas Castoe

I've been bugging Cory to write a bio for Read Brave for...oh...a rough guesstimate would be 18 months. Last night my inbox finally alerted me to an email containing such bio. The only issue was that it was about 600 more words than anyone else's. Now rather than force everyone to update their bio since we all have busy lives of our own I made the executive decision to share this beautiful piece of art in a post, then link you friendly folks to it from the "Meet the Contributors" link.

This is the beauty that is my husband.

Please enjoy.

These questions were taken from Seventeen Magazine.

My full name is Cory Lee Douglas Castoe.
I was born in 1981.
I love people who are kind and/or adventurous.
My favorite colors are vermillion, turquoise, and black.
I love to say “I’ll have the cheeseburger with grilled onions” and my most over-used saying is probably “I’ll have the cheeseburger with grilled onions”.
I am chaotic good .
I sometimes lose things, but I also find them, and find everyone else’s things when they can’t find them.
I need to have laughter, burgers, friendship, and adventure every day
I am frightened by the bush people (Not the former presidential family, but a race of cryptids I invented in my mind.) and this makes me frightened.

When I was little I remember listening to the Beach Boys a lot.
The first concert event I ever went to was the Beach Boys at the the Myriad in Oklahoma City in 1989.
The best thing anyone has ever said to me is, “You’re the most interesting person I know.”
The worst thing anyone has ever said to me is, “I’m sorry, we’re not selling those burgers anymore.”
What no one has ever told me is, “You’re really too short.”
The most fun I ever had was being married to my best friend because we make inappropriate jokes and stay up late to watch movies together and eat junk food.
I am proud that I graduated from college.
The wisest thing I’ve ever heard was “I’m just an old lump of coal, but I’m gonna be a diamond someday”.
The peak experience of my teen years was meeting my best friend/wife.
I think my children are some of my most favorite people that I have ever met.
The craziest thing that ever happened to me was meeting someone in a dumpster.
The funniest thing that ever happened to me was dancing on a table in a bar in Alaska.
The last thing I purchased was a green and orange cap.

When I am older I would like to be kind, adventurous, mischievous.
When I am older I would like to travel and meet a lot of strangers.
The goals I have include learning how to throat sing, lots of writing, and pushing my friends to live outside their comfort zones on occasion.
I am looking forward to spreading kindness and smiles.
I am worried about not existing.
I am confident that I will eat many more burgers.
I feel uncertain of what tomorrow will bring.
I know for sure that every moment is an opportunity for an adventure.

I love my wife, my kids, comic books, burgers, my friends and family, movies, and burgers.
I am happy when I’m spending time with those I love.
I feel comfortable in sweatpants.
I need to read more and write more.
My dreams are become an authority on comics, graphic literature, and sequential art.
It is important to be kind to everyone.
I am upset about people being unkind to one another.
I find anti-jokes to be hilarious.
I am joyful about Carl’s Jr.’s Midnight Moonshine Burger.
I am waiting until I have $6.50 before I purchase a Carl’s Jr.’s Midnight Moonshine Burger.

I am in love with hamburgers because they are delicious, and they give me strength.
I am grieving about Carl’s Jr. no longer serving the Jim Beam Bacon Cheeseburger.
I am concerned that the Carl’s Jr.’s Midnight Moonshine Burger will not be available much longer.
I am conflicted by pizza tasting great, but wasting an opportunity to eat a burger.
I am confused that more people don’t eat burgers frequently.
I love how hamburgers taste.
I hate it when there is no burgers left to eat.
I find burgers beautiful and it pleases me.
I think that I cannot go long without a burger.
